Case Study

306 W Waldburg

306 W Waldburg is a modern addition to the historic Victorian District neighborhood just west of Forsythe Park in Savannah, GA. Blending historically compatible materials with a modern flare, this LEED for Homes Platinum (under construction) project is helping to redefine sustainable housing in the region. With a budget price of $150/sf, 306 W Waldburg demonstrates that high levels of sustainability can be achieved without breaking the bank. Project highlights include a building envelope completely sealed and insulated with spray foam insulation, a 20 SEER variable speed heat pump with energy recovery ventilation, Low-E laminated glass,  and water efficient fixtures reducing water use almost 50%. The house features a 3 kw solar PV array, EnergyStar appliances and ceiling fans, and LED and CFL lighting throughout. The sites landscaping is designed to be as edible as possible, with herbs, vegetables, and fruits designed into the landscape. The turfgrass is a special blend of extremely drought tolerant grass that only needs to be mowed once per month. Trident Sustainability Group served as both the Developer and the sustainability designer for the project.
