TSG Principal Receives Prestigious Recognition

Tommy Linstroth, Principal of Trident Sustainability Group and founder and CEO of Green Badger LLC. has been awarded one of the most prestigious honors a LEED professional is able to receive: LEED Fellow by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). This honor is awarded to less than 50 LEED professionals annually in recognition of important contributions to the green building movement.(48 honorees in 2014)

The LEED Fellow is the most prestigious designation awarded by GBCI. This designation honors outstanding professionals who have demonstrated mastery-level technical knowledge and skill; exceptional leadership in the green building community; a history of sharing best practices through teaching, mentoring, or research; and an ongoing commitment to service and advocacy for green building and sustainability. “The 2014 LEED Fellows are utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience in green building to engage their colleagues, clients and communities to create a better built environment throughout the world,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “We recognize Tommy Linstroth’s commitment to LEED and celebrate his individual achievements.”

Mr. Linstroth has demonstrated expertise in green building over the past ten years, helping certify over 65 LEED projects, as well as starting and heading the local USGBC Savannah and Georgia chapters. To be selected, LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers, undergo an extensive portfolio review, must have at least 10 years of experience in the green building industry and hold a LEED AP with specialty credential, among other requirements. The evaluation process is carried out by the LEED Fellow Evaluation Committee and supported by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

Thursday October 23, 2014 during the 2014 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in New Orleans, LA.

“I am extremely honored to have received this recognition for my work and my contributions to the LEED movement,” said Tommy Linstroth upon notification of the news. “While it is extremely gratifying to receive this award, it is also an accomplishment of so many people I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with over the past decade – I’m just happy to have had an opportunity to contribute.”

Trident Sustainability Group’s Project Wins ENR Southeast Award!

Trident Sustainability Groups LEED Platinum project 306 W Waldburg won the best small project from ENR Southeast.

Each year, the projects recognized by ENR Southeast’s Best Projects competition showcase the most accomplished construction and design efforts taking place throughout the region. In addition, they often illustrate the future of construction, highlighting innovative approaches and project types that may one day become commonplace. Considering the state of the construction industry, this year’s winners also collectively reveal the Southeast’s future opportunities.

ncluded among this year’s winners: a high-tech library that opts for digital tools over bookshelves; a super-green data center; a middle school that produces more energy than it uses; a high-rise condominium built in just 12 months; and a LEED-Platinum-rated single-family residence.

This year, ENR Southeast received more than 70 entries from projects located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. After reviewing the entries, an independent panel of judges met and decided to recognize 25 projects completed during the last year with a Best Projects award. This year’s main group of judges included: Tim Ackert, project director with the city of Orlando; Will Caulder, senior vice president with Rodgers Builders, Charlotte, N.C.; Taras Diakiwski, vice president for Plaza Construction, Miami; Ian Kinnear, chief engineer, Professional Service Industries, Orlando; Howard Wertheimer, director of capital planning and space management, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta; and Mark Wylie, president and CEO of ABC of Central Florida, Orlando.

Additionally, a separate team of safety experts assisted with the selection of this year’s Excellence in Safety award. Those judges included: Gaylord Ballard, senior health, safety and environment manager with KBR in Durham, N.C.; David Lockhart, director of loss control with Poole & Kent Co. of Florida, Miami; and David Wessin, vice president of safety and loss control with Miami-based Coastal Construction Group.

Harmony Greene wins Earthcraft Community of the Year

Harmony Greene has been recognized as Earthcraft Community of the year. The new affordable housing community in Pooler, GAf features a number of cutting edge features such as a community-wide geothermal loop, high efficiency lighting and appliances, and water savings fixtures that cut consumption nearly 50%. Trident Sustainability Group’s Principal shines at 2013 USGBC-Savannah Green Building Awards

Trident Sustainability Group received two awards in the first year USGBC-Savannah Green Building Awards program, which were presented jointly by the Georgia Chapter of the US Green Building Council’s Savannah Branch and the City of Savannah in an effort to recognize significant local achievements in green building and leadership in sustainability issues. Nominations were assessed by local green building professionals and awards were presented, with all projects exhibited at the annual Green Gives Back event, a USGBC-Savannah Branch event that raises awareness and funds for a charity benefitting from green building implementation.

At the event, which took place on August 22nd, 2013, Trident Sustainability Group got honored for their planning, design and execution of the Best Residential New Built project and as well for the Green Leader of the Year. Read more

Harmony Greene Townhome affordable housing Apartments now Earthcraft House and Community certified

The Harmony Greene Townhome Apartments which achieved LEED for Homes Gold certification from the US Green Building Council earlier in 2013 are now as Earthcraft House and Community certified. www.earthcraft.org

[Established in 1999 by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface, EarthCraft is a green building certification program that serves Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina. By addressing the factors that impact homes in this region, including high heat, humidity and temperature swings, EarthCraft serves as a blueprint for energy, water and resource-efficient single-family homes, multifamily structures, renovation projects, community developments and light-commercial buildings.
